Work With Me
"Emily assisted me with three different manuscripts, providing a thorough edit with useful in-line comments and suggestions, along with general observations and questions for reflection. As well, her knowledge of writing conventions and rules helped me to prepare my books for publication ... At all times, Emily provided positive feedback along with insightful recommendations, being respectful of my author’s voice."

I'm now taking on writers who want an expert pair of eyes on their nearly-finished manuscript to polish, perfect formatting, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I specialize in Canadian vs. American spelling and proofreading fiction.
I'm interested in:
-fiction novels, novellas
-memoir
-game scripts
-children's books
I'm not interested in:
-AI generated content
-gratuitous abusive relationships
-gratuitous animal abuse/violence/gore
-raw text that hasn't been self-edited nor beta read
What is the difference between a copyedit and a proofread? In the steps to complete the polishing of your manuscript, a COPYEDIT is the SECOND LAST STEP, and a PROOFREAD is the LAST STEP. You should begin a copyedit after you have completed a line edit on the full manuscript. A copyeditor will fact check and do some light research on the topics you have presented. A proofread is the last step to find mistakes in your work, checking continuity and the established text style. ie. Oxford commas, "the Wizard" or "The Wizard". Both types of edits include correcting typos, misspelling, and punctuation.
